About the Role
The Quality & Food Safety Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the implementation and maintenance of food safety and quality assurance programs within the organization. This position ensures that all products meet regulatory standards and internal quality benchmarks to protect consumer health and uphold the company’s reputation.
The assistant collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to monitor compliance, conduct inspections, and document findings accurately. By assisting in audits and corrective actions, the role helps to continuously improve food safety processes and prevent potential risks. Ultimately, this position contributes to delivering safe, high-quality food products to the market while adhering to all applicable laws and industry best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic understanding of food safety principles and quality control processes. Familiarity with regulatory standards such as FDA, USDA, or FSMA guidelines. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or certification in food science, quality assurance, or a related field. Experience working in a food production or manufacturing environment. Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles. Proficiency with quality management software and data entry tools. Excellent communication skills for effective training and reporting.
Responsibilities
Assist in conducting routine inspections and audits of production areas to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards. Support the documentation and record-keeping of quality control tests, safety checks, and corrective actions. Collaborate with quality assurance and production teams to identify and resolve non-conformities or potential hazards.
Help maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and company policies related to food safety and quality. Participate in training sessions and assist in communicating food safety protocols to staff across departments. Skills: The required skills such as attention to detail and understanding of food safety principles are essential for accurately monitoring production processes and identifying potential risks.
Organizational skills enable the assistant to maintain thorough and precise documentation, which is critical for compliance and audit readiness. Collaboration and communication skills are used daily to work effectively with quality assurance teams and production staff, ensuring that safety protocols are understood and followed.
Preferred skills
like knowledge of HACCP and experience with quality management software enhance the ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and streamline reporting processes.
