Houseperson
Job description
Description The Houseperson is responsible for supporting the Housekeeping Department by maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout guest areas, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. This position assists Room Attendants and other hotel departments to ensure the hotel maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and employees.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness and organization of hotel public areas, hallways, stairways, elevators, and other assigned areas. Deliver and retrieve linens, towels, amenities, cleaning supplies, and other materials throughout the hotel. Assist Room Attendants with the removal of dirty linens, trash, and other items from guest rooms.
Stock housekeeping closets and supply areas and ensure adequate supplies are available. Assist with the setup and breakdown of meeting rooms, events, and other hotel spaces as needed. Clean and maintain housekeeping equipment, carts, and assigned work areas. Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests related to housekeeping services.
Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, damaged property, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor or department. Assist with deep-cleaning projects and other housekeeping tasks as assigned. Follow all hotel policies, procedures, safety standards, and sanitation requirements. Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to manufacturer instructions.
Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude when interacting with guests and coworkers. Protect guest privacy and confidentiality at all times. Work cooperatively with Housekeeping, Front Desk, Engineering, and other hotel departments. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
and Requirements Previous hotel, housekeeping, or hospitality experience preferred but not required. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with minimal supervision. Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable attendance and punctuality. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Ability to communicate effectively with guests and coworkers. Basic English communication skills preferred; additional language skills are a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to push and maneuver housekeeping carts and other equipment. Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday. Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor hotel environments.
