Middle School Girls Basketball Coach Job Description MISSION University Preparatory Academy’s mission is to prepare a diverse population of 7th through 12th-grade students in Santa Clara County to enter and excel in the best colleges and universities in the nation. The UPA Seasonal Athletic Coaches (SAC) maintain high standards for physical education and UPA sports teams by preparing student-athletes for competition.

The SAC maintains up-to-date professional standards in instruction, preparation, and practice. The SAC position is temporary, lasting for the sport’s season. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Under the guidance and supervision of the UPA Athletic Coach, the Seasonal Athletic Coach: Provides instruction to athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a high degree of individual and team success.

Provides instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence. Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community Reports game results to the head coach immediately after a contest is finished.

In conjunction with the head coach, responsible for transporting via team van team players to/from contests. Supervises practices and games. Updates knowledge of technical aspects of the sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the sport and in coaching in general. Assists the head coach to issue/collect uniforms at the beginning and end of the season.

Ensures that appropriate practice gear is worn during daily practices. Updates the athletic director frequently during the season about issues, concerns, and highlights.
