Grounds Keeper/Custodian

Grounds Keeper- Seasonal Position Function Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Director, performs lawn care and grounds maintenance on school district property, including athletic fields and other school grounds.

Responsibilities include

maintaining a clean, safe, and well-kept appearance of outdoor areas. When grounds maintenance duties are not required, the employee will assist with custodial duties throughout the school buildings. Custodial responsibilities may include cleaning, sanitizing, maintaining common areas, classrooms, restrooms, and other assigned areas of the schools.

The employee will perform other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director.

Essential Functions

Keep all district property and sports fields mowed and trimmed. Equipment Uses hand tools of trade and related to position. Safety Requirements Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used in the performance of ground work. Travel Requirements Frequent travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices Ability to work alone with self motivation. Ability to communicate with superviser. Ability to work outdoors in the heat Knowledge of safety procedures. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Requires walking, twisting, bending and stooping.

Requires physical exertion to move and lift materials up to forty pounds. Requires work around dust, noicy equipment, and dangerous equipment.. Qualification Profile Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: Prefer 18 years of age or older.

Prefer experience and knowledge of mowers, trimmers, tractors, and other grounds equipment. License or Certificate Motor Vehicle Operator's license. FLSA Status: Non-exempt
