Position Summary

As a Paraprofessional at AMS Desert Sky, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers and ensuring all students have the tools they need to succeed. Working side by side with highly skilled educators, you will provide individualized and small-group support to scholars, assist with classroom management, and help foster a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about education, eager to work directly with students, and considering a long-term career in teaching or school leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Support lead teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and classroom transitions. Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized learning plans. Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, engagement, and academic success.

Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure instructional continuity. Prepare instructional materials, organize classroom resources, and assist with grading or documentation as directed. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.

Model professionalism, respect, and high expectations in every interaction with students, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

& Competencies Required High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the paraprofessional exam, OR an Associate's degree (or higher). Previous experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or youth-focused setting. Preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
