Middle School Girls Basketball Coach

Middle School Girls Basketball Coach (Grades 5�8) Position Overview Chester Academy is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable individual to serve as the Middle School Girls Basketball Coach for grades 5�8. The successful candidate will align with the school's educational mission while fostering a positive team culture that emphasizes athletic development, sportsmanship, academic growth, and character.

Qualifications

Prior basketball coaching experience at the middle school level (or equivalent) preferred. Deep knowledge of basketball rules, fundamentals, and age-appropriate player development strategies. Familiarity with NHIAA, Tri-County League, or related league regulations preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

Certifications & Requirements: CPR/AED Certification, Heat Illness Prevention, Concussion in Sports, Signs of Suicide, and Signs of Abuse training (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season). Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

Coaching & Player Development Plan and execute daily practices focused on basketball fundamentals, game strategy, conditioning, and teamwork. Develop game strategies, make in-game adjustments, and manage playing time appropriately. Coach and supervise the team during all games and official competitions. Leadership & Mentorship Serve as a positive role model while promoting respect, accountability, perseverance, and sportsmanship.

Cultivate an inclusive environment that supports the athletic and personal growth of all student-athletes. Safety & Program Management Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes during all practices, games, and team events. Monitor, manage, and report injuries in accordance with school district procedures. Assist with the inventory, care, and maintenance of team equipment.

Communication & Collaboration Maintain proactive, professional communication with the Athletic Director, school staff, student-athletes, and families regarding schedules and program expectations.
