Crossing Guard (3700, 3701)

$15/hr, 4 hours per week, in the mornings Reports to : Building Administrator Position Objective : Controls traffic at crossing points for school children in pedestrian lanes; assists and protects children while they cross the street.

Essential Functions

• Uses STOP sign, stops traffic and escorts or supervises children crossing streets at intersections
• Maintains surveillance of children walking or playing near street and warns them when necessary
• Reports accidents or unusual traffic incidents to school authorities or police
• Assists children who are lost, injured or in need of assistance
• Is aware of and enforces school safety standards at all times
• Maintains satisfactory attendance, as defined in District policy and regulations Additional Functions

• Must be 21 years of age Competencies
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels, students, parents, and the general public
• Ability to interact with children in a positive and nurturing manner
• Is self-directed and works without direct supervision
• Knowledge of traffic rules and safety regulations pertaining to school crossing
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language
• Understanding of school, district, and state rules and regulations regarding school operations Working conditions :
