Nursing Assistant

Position Summary

Assists professional nursing staff by performing specific resident care tasks, within the scope of practice from Certified Nursing Assistant.

Qualifications

A.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the#department. The Nursing Assistant will be listed with the Texas#Department of Health Nurse Aid Registry required. B. Training and Experience:

1. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American#Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or transfer to the department# required.
2. Successful completion of general and nursing orientation within#three (3) months of hire.
3. Completion of the following competencies within three (3) months#of hire or transfer to the department: # Unit orientation # Unit safety # Attendance requirements # Code Blue participation # Safe, effective patient care: patient identification, vital signs,#inputs/outputs, personal care, bed-making, patient transfer and#reporting # Appropriate and timely documentation # Effective time management, organizational and prioritization#skills # Technical skills including equipment use # Body substance isolation # Age specific care # Professional communication # Restraint Training # Practice safe handling for patients receiving chemotherapy Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions: A. Ability to perform:
