Maintenance Technician

At Boxcar, our product is a good time. For us, that means cold drinks, exciting games, great pizza, and even better people. Boxcar has four locations across North Carolina. We’re not a chain. We value personality. What ties each spot together is a team that cares deeply about making each guest’s night a great one and looking out for one another.

Our vibe is eclectic, sometimes eccentric, but always welcoming. Our customers are a mix of pinball regulars, after-work crews, party-goers, competitive skee-ballers, and folks who just want a smooth drink in a place that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Our Maintenance Technicians are the unsung heroes who keep the party going.

You’re the one who fixes the leaks, paints the walls, and ensures the building is safe and looking sharp. We’re looking for a jack-of-all-trades who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty and takes pride in a job well done. If that sounds like you, keep reading! Fix it all. Handle repairs across a wide range of trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, and welding.

Patrol the perimeter. Perform thorough daily inspections of the entire facility (interior and exterior) to identify necessary repairs or safety issues. Be the on-call hero. Respond to emergency maintenance needs, including nights and weekends when things go sideways. Beautify the space. Manage landscaping, trash collection, and janitorial tasks to keep our first impression strong.

You’ll also help decorate for special events and holidays. Manage the stuff. Make smart purchasing decisions for supplies, manage inventory, and keep records of repairs and warranties organized. Hit the road (sometimes). Travel to storage units, hardware store, and other Boxcar locations to assist with various projects or fill in for other Maintenance Techs.

Our Non-Negotiables No a**holes. We value kindness, honesty, integrity, and consideration. If you can’t abide by that, Boxcar isn’t the place for you. One team, one dream. We don’t do silos or pass the buck. Pitch in and help out, even if it’s not your core responsibility. No job is too small. What Else We’re Looking For Experience.

You have intermediate proficiency (or higher) in facilities maintenance, trade work, and in maintaining coolers and draft lines. Skills. You possess knowledge of fire, life safety, and OSHA regulations. Communication. You’ll need to clearly communicate maintenance details to the General Manager and ownership. Conscientiousness.

You take the job seriously, but you don’t take yourself too seriously. Reliability. Full stop. Show up, on time, every time. You have personal transportation to travel between locations or to hardware stores, if necessary. Availability. You are ready to work weekends and respond to on-call emergencies as the business needs.

Physically ready. You are able to stand for 8 hours, work in confined spaces, and climb ladders up to 30 feet. We’re not a corporate bar group. We’re a locally-owned business that cares about getting the details right for our people. Here’s what that means for you: A culture you actually like. We aim to foster an environment where people want to work.

We treat adults like adults, but don’t forget to have fun like kids. We’ll have your back. The no a** holes policy applies to customers as well. Growth opportunities. This doesn’t have to be the last job you have at Boxcar. We want to invest in your career. We prefer to promote from within and find ways to keep our best people around.

And the perks. 50% pizza discount, after-shift drink, competitive benefits available, and a workplace that is literally an arcade. If you made it this far, let’s hear from you! Apply now.
