Job description

Position Summary

The Transition Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and executing end‑to‑end transitions of Finance processes into a shared service or centralized operating model. This role oversees all phases of transition—knowledge transfer, shadowing, SOP creation, cutover, hyper‑care, and stabilization—ensuring operational readiness and a smooth handoff to steady‑state delivery teams.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and skilled in managing complex, multi‑phase transitions across diverse functions. Own end‑to‑end transition planning for all assigned Finance functions, including scope definition, timelines, milestones, and success criteria. Develop and maintain detailed transition project plans; monitor progress and escalate risks or delays.

Coordinate with functional owners, service delivery teams, and regional partners to ensure alignment and readiness. Create and manage comprehensive knowledge transfer plans, including training sessions, shadowing, and reverse shadowing. Ensure creation, validation, and sign‑off of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.

Define success criteria for each transition wave and ensure delivery teams are equipped to operate processes effectively. Lead cutover planning and execution to transition processes from current teams to the shared service center. Coordinate hyper‑care activities, ensuring issues are logged, tracked, and resolved quickly.

Oversee the stabilization phase by monitoring performance trends, service levels, and team readiness until steady state is achieved. Assess readiness of people, processes, and systems before each transition stage, ensuring no critical gaps remain. Track productivity ramp‑up and ensure delivery teams achieve target efficiency within planned timelines.

Provide clear reporting on transition status, risks, dependencies, and required support to leadership and stakeholders. Partner closely with Finance process owners, delivery leads, and cross‑functional teams to ensure coordinated execution. Communicate effectively across all levels, providing updates tailored to business leaders, operations teams, and project stakeholders.

Support change management activities to ensure smooth adoption of new roles, responsibilities, and workflows.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, project management, or related field. 5+ years of experience in process transition, shared services, outsourcing, or finance transformation. Proven ability to manage large‑scale transitions with multiple functional workstreams. Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder‑engagement skills.

Experience in shared service center setup or global business services (GBS). Familiarity with Finance processes such as P2P, O2C, R2R, FP&A, or similar.
