High School Math Tutor

POSITION: High School Math Tutor Putnam High School is seeking a knowledgeable, patient, and engaging Math Tutor to help students strengthen their understanding of mathematical skills and concepts ranging from pre-algebra through pre-calculus. The Math Tutor will work with students individually and in small groups, collaborating closely with classroom teachers to support student achievement, build confidence, and foster mathematical persistence.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Targeted Tutoring: Deliver clear, individualized, and small-group math instruction across pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, algebra II, and pre-calculus concepts.

Instructional Adaptation: Adapt teaching methods and explanations to accommodate diverse learning styles and individual student needs. Teacher Collaboration: Work in partnership with high school math teachers to align tutoring sessions with classroom curriculum and learning goals. Technology Integration: Utilize educational technology and online resources to enhance student learning and engagement.

Student Engagement: Build positive, encouraging relationships with high school students to build confidence and promote academic perseverance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Content Knowledge: Strong background and mastery of high school mathematics from pre-algebra through pre-calculus. Experience: Prior experience tutoring or working with high school-aged students preferred. Skills: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; proficient in using instructional technology.

Personal Attributes: Demonstrated patience, dependability, adaptability, and empathy when supporting learners. Background Check: Eligibility to work in a school setting, including successful completion of required DCF and criminal background checks.
