Role Overview You will hold a veterinary nursing degree or equivalent and have demonstrable experience as a registered veterinary nurse. You will be an open, communicative team player who supports the practice's clinical and client care standards.
You will be confident working independently and as part of a team, and will demonstrate excellent nursing technique, surgical etiquette, and client communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Nursing Conduct screening procedures including auscultation and sample procurement Monitor and record general anaesthetics accurately and comprehensively Administer treatments as directed by the Veterinary Surgeon Assist veterinarians during invasive and non-invasive procedures Tend to unsettled or anxious patients with care and urgency Prepare and maintain surgical sites and operating theatre standards Disinfect equipment and maintain cleanliness of clinical workspaces to a high standard Monitor and maintain stock levels Working to the Top of Your Qualification At Creature Comforts, we actively champion our RVNs to work to the full extent of their qualification and professional scope, and we build our rotas, clinical workflows, and culture around making it happen We expect and encourage full utilisation of Schedule 3 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, which permits RVNs to carry out medical treatment and minor surgery under veterinary direction, including suturing, wound debridement, catheter placement, and other Schedule 3 procedures where you have the skills and confidence Lead and deliver nurse-led clinics, health checks, weight clinics, post-operative rechecks, and chronic disease monitoring consultations Contribute to the development of nursing protocols and share clinical knowledge with the wider team Maintain and develop your clinical skills through CPD, and actively apply new learning within the practice Nurse Consultations Participate in the nurse consult rota as required Deliver nurse consultations to a high standard, including health checks, vaccinations, and preventative care advice Use the estimate tracker to follow up with clients on recommended procedures Client Communication Keep clients informed of their pet's progress with regular, clear updates Educate pet owners on routine and specialised care procedures in accessible language Respond to client enquiries via phone and practice communication tools as required Contributing to Clinic Success Actively contribute to the clinic's reputation by delivering an exceptional client experience at every interaction; a positive review or a returning member starts with you Discuss estimates confidently and transparently with clients, explaining what is included, why it is recommended, and the value of the care being provided; never leave a client uncertain about cost Support the practice's NPS by encouraging satisfied clients to share their experience online and acting on feedback where things could be improved Understand and promote the Creature Comforts membership model, be able to explain its benefits clearly, and support client acquisition and retention Ensure all clinical work is accurately recorded and charged;
