Trailer Mechanic for Semi-Trailers – Part Time Straight Shot Express has an opening for a Part-Time Trailer Mechanic Technician at our Spartanburg, SC facility. Great pay for a part-time position - $25-$28/hour - that let’s you put your experience to work in a great team atmosphere. We provide the tools and a van to use for this work.

Position Overview

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of semi-trailers for a small private fleet. This is a hands-on role requiring experience specifically with trailer maintenance and repair. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs on semi-trailers, including floors, doors, panels, roofs, suspension, and frame components. Service and repair air systems, air brakes, and landing gear. Repair trailer lighting and electrical systems. Perform trailer interior and exterior repairs. Conduct regular DOT inspections and preventative maintenance.

Diagnose mechanical issues accurately and implement effective solutions. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory. Maintain parts inventory and ensure cleanliness and organization in the shop. Collaborate with team to diagnose problems and plan repair schedules. Move equipment in and out of the shop as needed.

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Qualifications

Prior hands-on experience repairing semi-trailers required. Ability to diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work. Familiarity with DOT compliance requirements. Must meet qualifications to perform DOT annual trailer inspections and brake inspections per 49 CFR 396 Appendix G and 49 CFR 396.
