Elementary Assistant Principal Greenville Independent School District Work Schedule: 216 Days Wage and Hour Status: Exempt Reports to: Campus Principal Position Overview Greenville ISD is seeking an instructional leader who is student-centered, collaborative, and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students and staff can thrive.
The Elementary Assistant Principal supports the Principal in providing leadership for instructional programs, student achievement, campus operations, staff development, student behavior, and family engagement. The Assistant Principal works closely with teachers, staff, students, families, and district leadership to support high-quality instruction, maintain a safe and supportive school environment, and advance campus and district goals.
Primary Purpose Assist the Principal in the overall administration and instructional leadership of the elementary campus. Support the implementation of effective instructional practices, student achievement initiatives, staff development, student behavior systems, campus operations, and a positive school culture. Provide leadership that promotes high expectations, continuous improvement, and the academic, social, and emotional success of all students.
Qualifications
Education
and Certification Master's degree from an accredited college or university required Valid Texas Principal or Mid-Management Certification required Valid Texas teaching certificate Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System appraiser or ability to obtain certification Special Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of elementary curriculum, instruction, assessment, and effective teaching practices Knowledge of school leadership, campus operations, and instructional improvement Knowledge of student behavior management and positive behavior supports Knowledge of state and federal education requirements Ability to analyze student achievement data and use results to guide instructional decisions Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teacher effectiveness Ability to coach, support, and develop teachers and staff Ability to build positive relationships with students, employees, families, and the community Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced school environment Experience Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience required Campus leadership or administrative experience preferred Elementary education experience preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Leadership Assist the Principal in providing instructional leadership focused on student achievement and continuous improvement.
Support implementation of district curriculum, instructional programs, assessments, and campus improvement initiatives. Monitor classroom instruction and provide teachers with meaningful feedback, coaching, and support. Participate in classroom observations, walkthroughs, conferences, and teacher appraisal processes as assigned.
Work collaboratively with teachers, instructional coaches, specialists, and campus leadership to strengthen instructional practices. Analyze student achievement, assessment, attendance, behavior, and other relevant data to identify needs and support campus improvement. Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring the Campus Improvement Plan.
Support intervention, enrichment, and instructional programs designed to meet the needs of all learners. Promote high expectations for student learning and effective instructional practices throughout the campus. Staff Leadership and Development Support the Principal in building and maintaining a professional, collaborative, and student-centered campus culture.
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, selecting, onboarding, and supporting campus employees as assigned. Coach and support teachers and staff in professional growth and continuous improvement. Assist with planning and facilitating professional learning aligned with campus and district priorities. Provide clear expectations, timely feedback, and appropriate support to employees.
Participate in employee appraisal, documentation, and performance improvement processes as assigned. Encourage collaboration, shared responsibility, and effective communication among campus staff. Model professionalism, integrity, accountability, and a commitment to student success. Student Support and Behavior Promote a safe, supportive, inclusive, and orderly learning environment.
Assist with implementing campus expectations and systems for student behavior, attendance, and engagement. Address student behavior concerns in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, district policy, and applicable requirements. Work with students, families, teachers, counselors, and support staff to develop appropriate interventions and supports.
Promote positive relationships and proactive approaches to student behavior and school culture. Monitor student attendance and assist with strategies designed to improve attendance and engagement. Support students' academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs through collaboration with appropriate campus and district personnel.
Campus Operations and Safety Assist the Principal with the effective daily operation of the campus. Help coordinate campus schedules, supervision, arrival, dismissal, transportation, student activities, and special events. Assist with implementing campus safety, security, emergency preparedness, and crisis response procedures.
Help ensure the campus maintains a safe, orderly, welcoming, and effective learning environment. Coordinate and supervise campus activities and programs as assigned. Assist with maintaining compliance with district policies, administrative procedures, and applicable state and federal requirements. Assume responsibility for campus operations in the Principal's absence as assigned.
Family and Community Engagement Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, employees, and community members. Communicate effectively with families regarding student achievement, behavior, attendance, campus programs, and other school matters. Respond to parent and community concerns professionally, respectfully, and in a timely manner.
Support opportunities that encourage family participation and engagement in the school community. Represent the campus and Greenville ISD professionally in interactions with families and the community. Special Programs and Compliance Support implementation of special education, Section 504, multilingual education, gifted and talented, intervention, and other student programs as assigned.
Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee meetings, Section 504 meetings, student support meetings, and other campus processes as appropriate. Assist with monitoring required documentation, timelines, and implementation of student services. Work collaboratively with district departments and campus personnel to support program effectiveness and compliance.
Professional Responsibilities Participate in campus and district leadership meetings, professional development, and administrative activities. Maintain confidentiality of student and employee information. Demonstrate professional judgment, ethical conduct, and effective leadership. Maintain knowledge of current educational practices, district initiatives, and applicable requirements.
Support the Principal in implementing campus and district goals and initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the Campus Principal. Supervisory Responsibilities Share supervisory responsibility for professional, paraprofessional, clerical, and support staff as assigned by the Principal. Supervise students during the instructional day, campus activities, and school-sponsored events.
Assume supervisory and administrative responsibilities for the campus in the Principal's absence as assigned. Working Conditions Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and movement throughout the campus. Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment. Ability to monitor classrooms, hallways, common areas, playgrounds, arrival and dismissal areas, and campus activities.
Occasional lifting and carrying of materials and equipment. Environmental Factors Work is performed throughout the school campus in classrooms, offices, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, outdoor areas, and other instructional environments. Frequent interaction with students, employees, families, visitors, and community members.
May occasionally work outside normal business hours for meetings, programs, student activities, emergencies, and campus events. Mental Demands Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, interruptions, and complex situations. Ability to analyze information, make sound decisions, resolve conflicts, and respond effectively to student and staff needs.
