Job description
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our clients' finance team in Newton Park, Port Elizabeth. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting and financial reporting. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all financial processes.
Responsibilities
Assist with the preparation and review of Balance Sheets and Income Statements. Support the maintenance and reconciliation of the General Ledger and Trial Balance. Process income tax submissions and assist with tax compliance activities. Capture and process financial transactions accurately and timeously. Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures.
Support the preparation of management reports and financial statements. Maintain organized and accurate accounting records. Assist senior accountants with audits and other financial projects as required.
Requirements
Relevant Accounting Qualification (Diploma or Degree in Accounting, finance or related). 1-2 years experience in an accounting role. Solid understanding of balance sheets, income statements, general ledger and trial balance. Knowledge of income tax processing and statutory reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Pastel, Sage or Quickbooks).
