NAME OF ORGANIZATION: The Arc of South Florida, Inc. TITLE OF JOB: Staff Accountant TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Controller TITLE OF POSITION(S) OVER WHICH THIS POSITION HAS DIRECT SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None CURRENT POSITION: FULL TIME: X EXEMPT: NEW POSITION: X PART TIME: NON-EXEMPT: X TEMP: General Statement of Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Controller and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting preparation of financial statements, and performing accounting functions across multiple departments and programs.

The position ensures that financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable regulatory requirements, and the Agency's internal controls. The Staff Accountant supports general ledger activities, account reconciliations, month-end closing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and support of annual audit process.

SPECIFIC DUTIES - including but not limited to: A. General Ledger and Month-End closing: Perform monthly analysis of the general ledger and trial balance to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP. Manage general ledger accounting processes, including preparation and posting journal entries. Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities and ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.

B. Account Reconciliation and Analysis: Conduct account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations to verify the integrity and accuracy of financial data. Review bank statements and reconcile applicable accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner. Maintain supporting schedules and detailed documentation for reconciled accounts.

C. Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Support: Help with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, collections, and related transactions. Review accounting transactions for appropriate coding, documentation, authorization, and compliance with Accounting procedures.

D. Accounting Systems and Documentation: Utilize accounting software, including MIP, Microix, or similar platforms, to maintain accurate accounting records and support efficient financial operations. Maintain organized accounting files and records in accordance with Agency retention, confidentiality, and internal control requirements.

Use Microsoft Excel, to support internal accounting analysis as needed. E. Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP, applicable governmental accounting regulations or practices and follow Accounting policies and procedures. Support and maintain internal controls related to financial transactions and the Agency's various programs.

F. Annual Audit Support: Assist with annual audit process by collecting requested information and providing supporting documentation. Support in the preparation of information required by external auditors to comply with different government agencies requests. G. General Support: Provide accounting and financial support to the CFO and other members of management as requested.

Operate standard office equipment and software necessary to perform daily duties, including scanning, filing, data entry, and document management. Perform other related and additional duties as assigned. POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Follow all Agency and Accounting Policies & Procedures. Follow all Agency safety and security policies and procedures and report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the supervisor or designee.

Maintain Agency confidentiality and protect confidential financial, employee, vendor, client, and organizational information. Protect Agency assets and financial records. INTERACTION WITH STAFF: Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with co-workers, Communicate financial information clearly and professionally to appropriate staff and management.

Follow Controller direction and provide appropriate recommendations regarding accounting processes, financial controls, and identified discrepancies. OTHER: Participate in fund-raising activities and Agency events throughout the year, as needed. Maintain organization by properly filing and safeguarding accounting records and required documentation.

Perform other related and additional duties as needed. MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform at least 8-hour workday. Must be able to use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods. Must be able to remain alert, focused, and attentive to detail while performing financial and accounting functions.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles. Knowledge of general ledger accounting, trial balance analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and analytical skills. Proficiency with accounting software, including MIP, Microix, or similar platforms Microsoft Excel.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear financial reports and supporting documentation. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment when handling sensitive financial information. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

MINIMUM TRAINING REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Training or demonstrated proficiency in GAAP, accrual accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting systems such as MIP, Microix, or similar accounting platforms, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least five (5) years of accounting experience, including experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end closing activities.
