Job description
SQL Developer Location: Los Angeles. CA Job Type: Full-Time About the Role We are seeking a skilled SQL Developer to join our dynamic team in New York, NY. This role is crucial in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database systems that support our data-driven decision-making processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into efficient and reliable data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain database objects such as tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, and functions. Query Optimization and Performance Tuning: Write complex SQL queries and optimize existing ones to ensure high performance, stability, and reliability of the databases. ETL Processes: Implement and manage Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes to integrate data from diverse sources using tools like SSIS or Python scripts.
Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to integrate backend data functionality into business solutions and gather requirements. Data Integrity and Security: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards and implement data backup and recovery plans.
Troubleshooting and Support: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related issues and provide production support for existing systems. Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for database structures, processes, and data flows. Reporting and Analysis: Develop and automate reports and dashboards using BI tools like SSRS, Power BI, or Tableau to provide actionable insights.
Required Skills
Strong command of SQL programming, including T-SQL or PL/SQL, and experience with data manipulation language (DML) and data definition language (DDL). Database Management Systems (DBMS): Experience with popular DBMS such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Database Design Principles: Knowledge of data modeling, database design, and normalization principles.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and complex problem-solving abilities, with great attention to detail. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams.
Education
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL). Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or Power. Shell for automation. Knowledge of Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum).
