Officers will help maintain a safe and secure environment by controlling access to restricted areas, monitoring dock activity, escorting authorized crew members and vendors, and reporting security concerns. Applicants must possess a current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. A valid TWIC card must be maintained throughout the assignment. This is a seasonal, part-time/on-call position supporting vessel arrivals and dock operations. Ship and boat deliveries pause during the winter when lake freezing and ice conditions interrupt shipping operations, resulting in a seasonal pause in this assignment. Work availability depends on vessel schedules, shipping activity, weather conditions, and facility needs. Consistent weekly hours and year-round work are not guaranteed. Shifts are primarily evenings and nights, with possible day shifts based on operational needs. Applicants must be comfortable with a variable schedule and accepting assignments as coverage becomes available. Officers must follow established post orders, facility security procedures, and applicable U.S. Coast Guard requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to remain alert while working independently in an industrial waterfront environment. This is an unarmed security position focused on access control, authorized escorts, observation, documentation, and incident reporting.
