Job description
Randolph-Macon College is seeking a full-time Night Shift Operations Assistant to join our Campus Safety team. The Office of Campus Safety serves as the College’s main switchboard and communications center. The Operations Assistant supports campus safety operations and promotes positive community relations through professional and courteous interactions.
This position requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality. Daily responsibilities include operating the switchboard, monitoring security systems, communicating via email and radio, and working closely with the Operations Support Officer. NIGHT SHIFT SCHEDULE: Shifts are based on a two-week repeating cycle with scheduled workdays as follows: Week 1 = Mon.
, Thur., Fri., 8PM – 8AM Week 2 = Tues., Wed., Sat., Sun. 8PM – 8AM Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Maintain and monitor electronic security access systems. Maintain information by accurate recordkeeping via dispatch reports. Ensure daily tasks are printed and posted appropriately. Initiate after hour protocols for Residence Life and Physical Plant when necessary.
Maintain and handle all confidential material and information. Develop proficiency with programs used by the College and the Office of Campus Safety. Perform duties as assigned by Campus Safety Command Staff. Qualifications/Requirements High School diploma or equivalent, plus two to three years of administrative and/or customer service experience.
Proficiency with email and current word processing software; experience with spreadsheet and database applications preferred. Ability to prepare brief, concise, and accurate reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, timely, and professional notifications and correspondence.
Well-developed knowledge of general office practices and procedures, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a rapidly changing environment with frequent interruptions. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and guests while following established policies and procedures and maintaining accuracy.

Position is considered essential, requiring an employee to report during inclement weather. Successful candidates must be flexible and willing to work extra shifts and special events as needed.
