High School Student Intern

MedNOW Clinics is offering a structured internship opportunity for a current high school student interested in healthcare, clinic operations, customer service, and quality improvement. The intern will begin by learning front-desk operations and professional workplace expectations. The intern will also spend time supporting the Quality department and may later observe approved patient-care workflows.

This internship is designed to provide professional development, supervised workplace experience, and exposure to different roles within a medical clinic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Front Desk Support Welcome patients and provide professional customer service Assist with approved clerical and administrative tasks Organize forms, educational materials, and office supplies Learn basic scheduling, registration, and check-in workflows under supervision Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality Observe how the front desk supports patients, providers, and clinic staff Quality Department Support Assist with approved Quality projects and administrative assignments Help organize reports, training materials, and quality-improvement resources Learn how quality measures support patient care and clinic operations Complete data entry or document-review tasks when approved and supervised Patient-Care Exposure Observe approved patient-care workflows after completing required onboarding and training Shadow authorized clinical team members Learn about healthcare careers, patient communication, and professional standards Complete only age-appropriate, nonhazardous duties approved by HR, Quality, Compliance, and the supervising manager POSITION LIMITATIONS Because this position is held by a minor, the intern may not: Independently provide patient care Perform injections, blood draws, testing, or other clinical procedures Handle medications, sharps, blood, or other potentially infectious materials Operate X-ray or other hazardous medical equipment Lift or transfer patients Transport patients or drive for work purposes Work without an approved adult supervisor Access patient information beyond what is necessary for an assigned and supervised task QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least 16 years old Must be currently enrolled in high school Interest in healthcare, customer service, or clinic operations Professional, dependable, and willing to learn Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to follow instructions and maintain confidentiality Parent or guardian permission is required School approval or an internship agreement may be required Must complete MedNOW’s onboarding, HIPAA, confidentiality, safety, and professional-conduct requirements BENEFITS Colorado paid sick leave as required by law Healthcare career exposure Professional mentorship Front-desk and Quality department experience Supervised job-shadowing opportunities This temporary, part-time internship is not eligible for MedNOW’s medical, dental, or vision benefits.

Pay: $15.71 per hour
