Counselor - Substance Use Disorder - Chicago - Austin

Family Guidance Centers, Inc. is a substance use treatment organization offering comprehensive behavioral health programs, including medication-assisted recovery, to individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs) and co-occurring mental health conditions. With over 25 years of experience and multiple locations across the state, we provide a full continuum of care for substance use disorder, from prevention and harm reduction to treatment and recovery support.

Our programs integrate FDA-approved medications for the treatment of substance use disorders, including all three medications approved to treat opioid use disorder (buprenorphine, methadone, and naltrexone). We strive to meet our patients where they are, bringing care outside clinic walls via telehealth and mobile services and ensuring patients have access to harm reduction resources and education.

Essential Duties

• Provide counseling services at Austin Health Center with caseloads structured and managed to support effective, patient-centered care.
• Complete an individualized treatment plan for each patient on caseload, addressing all needs identified in the psychosocial assessment.
• Provide group and individual sessions to patients in accordance with their treatment plan problems, goals, and objectives.
• Review and evaluate patients’ progress and continued stay in treatment in relation to measurable goals and objectives described in treatment and care plans. Modify treatment plans to comply with changes in patient status.
• Plan and assist with the implementation of aftercare and continuing recovery plans once patients are discharged from treatment programs.
• Maintain a minimum of 50% of time in direct, face-to-face counseling contact. Schedule: Monday

• Monday, Wednesday, Friday Pay Rate: $43,000 – $ 55,000 per year; based on certification and experience Family Guidance Centers, Inc. is a drug-free workplace. Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) and prior substance abuse treatment experience preferred. Will consider relevant internship experience in lieu of paid employment. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must possess or be eligible to obtain IAODAPCA Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CADC) certification.

Individuals not currently certified are required to obtain the CADC within two years of hire or transfer into the position, in accordance with applicable experience and qualification requirements. Certification must be maintained in good standing as a condition of continued employment.
