Benefits Specialist

Summary - Location

The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for coordinating with new clients to ensure proper set up of all benefit plans within our systems. This role will also coordinate with various internal departments to ensure appropriate integration between our systems and software platforms. This position will manage all carrier connections and benefits integration for clients through testing phases to completion. He/she will act as liaison and point of contact between Implementation and Service for client benefit set up matters.

• Processes a variety of benefit plan information (Medical, dental, vision, Group and Voluntary Supplemental benefits, worksite) for the purpose of ensuring plans are established according to client summary plan descriptions, eligibility and termination rules.
• Set up customers on benefits where needed
• Coordinates with development teams to ensure system requirements are met and integration of all system feeds are working efficiently.
• Recommends improvements to system set up and connections to enhance efficiencies.
• Researches discrepancies and reporting between systems and resolves inaccuracies.
• Assists clients and team members with Open Enrollment setup and employee self-serivce implementation
• Reach out to and communication with customers on a scheduled basis to ensure service model standard is in place
• Assist and direct where needed for carrier claims processing

Skills/Qualifications:

• Analytical thinking
• Strong customer service outreach acumen
• Basic knowledge of group insurance products such as: Medical, dental vision, life, disability
• Problem solving ability with general supervision - resolve routine questions alone and more complex issues with assistance
• Requires ability to use a variety of technical and business programs (excel, databases) to complete daily tasks
• Requires effective business writing skills to respond to various inquiries
• Requires excellent interpernsal skills and the ability to deal with sensitive information
