Senior Business Central Analyst
Job description
Senior Business Central Analyst Nexxt Spine LLC, Noblesville, IN Reports to the Chief Data Officer Nexxt Spine LLC is a leader in the medical device industry, dedicated to designing, manufacturing, and distributing an expanding portfolio of innovative spinal implants and instruments. We are committed to a culture of innovation, excellence, and employee engagement while delivering solutions that improve patient outcomes and strengthen surgeon and distributor partnerships.
Position Summary
We run our business on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and we are bringing ownership of it in-house. Our technology team designs, builds, and maintains Business Central extensions and automations using modern development tools, including AI. What we need is the person on the ground. You will be the Business Central expert who knows how the system works, how our people use it, and what it should do next.
You will take the call when something breaks, turn a frustrated user's description into a clear ticket, map how a process really runs, and work with our technology team to design, test, and ship the fix. This is not a pure development role and it is not a pure support role. It is for a senior analyst who understands Business Central deeply enough to shape the build, check the work, and own the outcome.
Essential Job Functions Support and Ticket Ownership Be the first call for Business Central issues from customer service, logistics, purchasing, finance, quality, and the warehouse. Triage, reproduce, and document issues into clear tickets with steps, expected results, and business impact. Resolve configuration, setup, permission, and data issues directly; hand code-level issues to the development team with a clear spec.
Own the ticket queue end to end: prioritize, track, follow up, and close the loop with the person who reported it. Process Mapping and Requirements Map how our processes really run today across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, inventory and lot/serial tracking, consignment and loaner sets, production, and quality. Find the manual work, spreadsheets, re-keying, and workarounds, and propose how Business Central or automation can remove them.
Write requirements and user stories that a developer can build from without guessing. Solution Design and System Ownership Work with the CDO and technology team to design solutions, then help build, test, and document them. Review changes before they reach production: read AL code and extension changes well enough to spot problems, and verify results in a sandbox.
Help shape the tools, standards, and documentation our team uses to build faster and more reliably. Maintain the system: extensions, configuration, number series, posting setups, approval workflows, reports, and integrations with the tools around Business Central. Testing, Releases, and Data Integrity Plan and run user acceptance testing with the people who will use the change, and sign off on readiness.
Manage sandbox and production environments, release notes, and Microsoft's twice-yearly major updates. Keep master data clean (items, BOMs, customers, vendors, pricing) and support traceability and audit needs in a regulated medical device environment. Efficiency and Reporting Look for efficiencies everywhere: fewer clicks, fewer manual steps, fewer errors.
Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and data exports in Business Central and Power BI. Give the CDO a concise weekly update: what was fixed, what shipped, what is stuck, and what you recommend next.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (or Dynamics NAV), as an in-house analyst, administrator, or functional consultant. Experience in a manufacturing, medical device, or other regulated, inventory-heavy environment. You know what lot tracking, BOMs, routings, and traceability mean in practice.
Deep functional knowledge across core Business Central areas: sales, purchasing, inventory, warehouse, finance, and either manufacturing or assembly. Comfortable reading AL code, extension structure, and the Business Central data model. You do not need to be a full-time developer, but you can follow what the code does and tell when it is wrong.
Proven ability to map business processes and write requirements that someone else can build from. Curious about new tools, including AI, and eager to use them to work faster. Strong communicator who moves easily between a technical design session and walking a customer service rep through a new screen. Organized and dependable.
When you say a ticket will be closed by Tuesday, it is closed by Tuesday. Comfortable owning a system with a small team, wearing multiple hats, and moving fast.
Nice to Have
Experience writing AL extensions in VS Code and working with Git, pull requests, and sandbox deployments. Experience with AI-assisted development or automation tools. Experience with Business Central APIs, OData, Power Automate, Power Apps, or integrations with EDI, shipping, CRM, or e-commerce systems. Power BI report building and data modeling.
Background in medical device manufacturing or distribution: FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, UDI, consignment inventory, or loaner kit management. Experience stabilizing a difficult implementation or taking over a system from an outside partner. Microsoft certification such as MB-800 (Business Central Functional Consultant) or MB-820 (Business Central Developer).
Why This Role You will own Business Central at a growing medical device company, not support one module of it. You will report directly to the CDO and have a real say in what gets built and how. You will help build a modern in-house development practice instead of waiting on a vendor's ticket queue. Your work will show up fast: a fix in the morning, adopted by the afternoon.
Schedule On-Site; Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Accounting, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent practical experience will be considered in lieu of formal education. What matters most is demonstrated depth in Business Central and the ability to turn how a business works into a system that supports it.
**In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
