LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 245 Day QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have a high school diploma.
  2. Possess knowledge and experience in general maintenance of commercial or K-12 facilities
  3. Computer literate IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Maintenance Supervisor is the immediate supervisor. Director of Facility Management is general supervisor. SALARY: Commensurate with training, experience, and education. Maintenance Scale depending upon assignment (Scale 111 Single Campus & Scale 114 Dual Campus) JOB SUMMARY: To provide all students with a physical learning environment that is safe, clean, attractive, and smooth functioning. To maintain the physical plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence.

EDUCATION

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: Working knowledge of general building repair and maintenance as demonstrated by passing the Dorchester Facilities Technical Knowledge Evaluation. At least two years' experience working in a similar position. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Sets up and operates a program of preventive maintenance through scheduled inspections of buildings and facilities.
  2. Repairs items as needed and call shop for assistance.
  3. Notifies district maintenance to deliver items needed for repair work via computerized work order system.
  4. Cooperates with campus administration to assure that maintenance needs are prioritized and addressed efficiently and effectively.
  5. Communicates with the campus staff and administration on maintenance concerns stressing that maintenance is the primary function of this position.
  6. Assumes responsibility for the comprehensive overall planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair requirements of the school.
  7. Receives stores and issue all maintenance materials, supplies and equipment.
  8. Inspects school buildings, grounds and installations on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained.
  9. Conducts periodic inspection of the school facilities to ensure fire safety.
  10. Maintains a proper inventory of tools required to do the job.
  11. Utilizes the computerized Maintenance Work Order Preventive Maintenance System.
  12. Performs environmental investigations for Indoor Air Quality complaints and semi-annual asbestos condition survey.
  13. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Assistant Director of Facility Maintenance or Director of Facility Management.
