Position Summary

The Recreational Gymnastics Coach is responsible for providing safe, positive, and engaging gymnastics instruction for participants of all ages and skill levels. Coaches teach fundamental gymnastics skills while promoting confidence, physical fitness, coordination, sportsmanship, and personal growth in a fun and structured environment.

This position requires a flexible schedule, including afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays for recreational classes, Open Gym, birthday parties, camps, special events, and other gymnastics programs as assigned. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Teach recreational gymnastics classes following Camden Gymnastics curriculum.

Provide a safe and positive learning environment. Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment by continuously monitoring participants, equipment, and activity areas to help prevent injuries and ensure the well-being of all children. Teach age-appropriate gymnastics skills and progressions. Spot participants safely during skill instruction.

Plan lessons appropriate for each age and skill level. Monitor attendance and maintain records. Communicate professionally with parents. Set up, inspect, and put away gymnastics equipment. Enforce Camden County PSA safety policies. Maintain a clean and organized gymnastics facility. Assist with class placements, camps, clinics, exhibitions, and community events.

Supervise Saturday Open Gym sessions. Assist with birthday parties including setup, supervision, and cleanup. Attend staff meetings and training. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of basic gymnastics skills, progressions, and safety practices. Ability to safely spot participants during skill development. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, participants, and coworkers. Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable, punctual, and able to exercise sound judgment. Working Environment Duties are performed primarily within the gymnastics facility during afternoon, evening, and Saturday hours. Coaches work closely with children, parents, participants, and coworkers in a physically active environment.

Saturday assignments may include recreational classes, Open Gym, birthday parties, camps, clinics, and special events. Additional hours may be required for meetings, staff training, or community events. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to demonstrate gymnastics skills when appropriate.

Ability to safely spot and assist participants during skill instruction. Ability to lift and move gymnastics equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach overhead, and move quickly throughout the gymnastics facility. Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively with participants, parents, and coworkers.
