Senior Designer (Hybrid, Washington, DC) Job Description: OTJ is seeking a creative, design-driven Designer to help shape inspiring workplace environments for some of the nation's leading organizations. This role is ideal for a designer who is passionate about concept development, workplace strategy, storytelling, and creating memorable experiences through design.
The Designer will collaborate with project teams to develop innovative workplace concepts, support client engagement, and help translate design vision into thoughtful, functional environments. The ideal candidate possesses strong design instincts, exceptional graphic communication skills, and a passion for creating impactful spaces that elevate the human experience.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of workplace design concepts from visioning through implementation. Assist in creating compelling design narratives, presentations, renderings, and visual communication materials. Participate in client workshops, visioning sessions, and presentations to effectively communicate design ideas.
Develop test fits, workplace programming concepts, and space planning solutions under the guidance of senior design leadership. Research workplace trends, emerging design strategies, materials, furnishings, and experiential solutions. Support the creation of design palettes, finish selections, furniture concepts, and branded workplace experiences.
Produce high-quality visualization materials, including renderings, diagrams, mood boards, and graphic presentations. Collaborate with designers and technical teams to maintain design intent throughout project delivery. Contribute creative ideas across multiple projects and design phases simultaneously. Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail while balancing creativity, organization, and project deadlines.
Communications clearly with team members and clients Demonstrates technical intelligence in practicing area of architecture and/or interior design. Help advance OTJ's culture of design excellence through innovation, curiosity, and collaborative problem-solving.
Qualifications
6-8 years of experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree of architecture or interior design Intermediate level Revit proficiency Intermediate level rendering software proficiency (Enscape, Lumion, or other) Intermediate level Adobe Creative Suite proficiency Intermediate proficiency in Office 365 products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
