PCU Registered Nurse

• Patient Monitoring:** Conduct continuous telemetry monitoring and expert assessments for complex medical-surgical, post-surgical, or stepdown cardiac patients.

• Clinical Care:** Administer medications, manage intravenous drips, perform wound care, and manage airways, including prioritizing care for patients with high-acuity needs.

• Interdisciplinary Teamwork:** Collaborate with doctors, specialists, and support staff to develop, implement, and update care plans.

• Safety & Advocacy:** Ensure patient safety through precise documentation, recognizing subtle condition changes, and advocating for patient rights.

• Education:** Educate patients and their families regarding disease management, treatments, and discharge planning.

Requirements:**

• License:** Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse License in Virginia or compact state.

• Experience:** Minimum 1-2 years of acute care experience, preferably in a PCU, Stepdown, or ICU setting.

• Certifications:** BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) are required. NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) is often required.

• Skills:** Proficiency in EMR systems (such as Epic) and cardiac rhythm interpretation.

• Education:** Diploma or Degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN; BSN is often preferred).
