Billing Specialist — Graceland Psychiatry

Job Overview Graceland Psychiatry is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Billing Specialist to support billing operations for our psychiatric practice. In this role, you will handle day-to-day medical billing tasks, work closely with our billing team, and collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to keep our revenue cycle running smoothly and accurately.

Responsibilities

Support the end-to-end billing process for psychiatric services, including claims submission, accounts receivable, and payment posting. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and obtain prior authorizations for psychiatric services as needed. Process and reconcile journal entries and account reconciliations using accounting/billing software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.

Perform medical billing tasks involving CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, psychiatric/behavioral health terminology, and medical collections. Conduct data entry with high accuracy using 10-key typing skills while maintaining meticulous, audit-ready records. Follow up on denied or unpaid claims, identify billing discrepancies, and resubmit or appeal as needed.

Collaborate with clinical staff, front office, and compliance to resolve billing questions or documentation issues. Communicate with patients, insurers, and payers regarding billing questions, balances, or payment plans. All other duties as assigned. Skills Strong knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits and account reconciliation.

Proficiency in billing/accounting software. Experience in medical billing including CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, and medical collection processes Behavioral health/psychiatric billing experience required. Familiarity with insurance verification, prior authorization, and claims appeals processes. Strong analytical skills for account reconciliation and reviewing financial/billing data.

Effective communication skills and strong phone etiquette for patient and payer interactions. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and other applicable regulations.
