Job description
The Lab Technician III is a senior member of the lab team who owns the day-to-day operation of an efficient, safe, and organized electronics lab. This position supports engineering teams by leading inventory, equipment, logistics, and lab upkeep, and by mentoring Lab Technicians I and II. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, Customer-Service focused, and highly experienced in an electronics lab setting.
This role ensures that all lab materials—including evaluation boards, electronic equipment, computer components, and general supplies—are readily available and properly maintained, and drives improvements that keep the lab scalable as engineering needs grow. Base salary range is $24.52 - $40.87 an hour. The base salary offer will depend on factors such as education, experience, training, skills, qualifications, and location.

Lab Expansion & Facilities Lead lab expansion planning and execution, including space planning, new equipment (e.
g., walk-in chamber), and requirements for power, temperature control, and air. Coordinate with Facilities on lab space, electrical systems, HVAC, and safety regulations. Safety, Compliance & Documentation Partner with the ESD and EHS Specialists to ensure all labs comply with policy. Maintain EHS, ESD, ISO, and SOP documentation.
Keep labs clean, organized, and safe, and oversee recycling and waste disposal. Lab Operations & Inventory Manage lab inventory (evaluation boards, components, computers, hardware) so engineers always have what they need. Oversee shipping and receiving, including international shipments and trade show logistics. Serve as backup for Lab Technicians and provide guidance on lab procedures.
Equipment & Asset Management Maintain and troubleshoot lab IT, networking, and equipment in partnership with IT; coordinate calibration, repairs, and vendor service. Manage the lifecycle and records of confidential, pre-production, and high-value hardware; support annual asset audits and rental equipment. Cross-Functional Support Serve as the technical bridge between R&D engineers, vendors, safety, and operations, providing hands-on lab setup support.
Handle purchasing as needed to keep the lab stocked. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent hands-on experience. Five plus years of experience in a high-tech or electronics lab. Proficiency with IT software and hardware and diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters.
Ability to configure and manage basic networking topologies, switch racks, and the lab environment. Understanding of lab space requirements (electricity, air, temperature, and space), and experience coordinating lab build-outs or expansions with Facilities and vendors. Strong troubleshooting skills for a variety of engineering and IT issues.
Advanced knowledge of ESD prevention protocols, proper handling of hazardous materials (such as chemical solutions or heavy hardware), and adherence to local safety standards (e.g., OSHA). Experience managing the lifecycle of confidential, pre-production, or high-value prototype hardware using JIRA. Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset, with the ability to work across R&D, vendors, safety, and operations teams.
Experience with documentation for ISO, EHS, ESD, and SOP requirements is a plus. Able to lift at least 100 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
