Automatic Seed Packer Operator

Based at our Hinds Seed Cleaning site, you’ll help pack and prepare seed for customers across Mid Canterbury and beyond. As an Automatic Seed Packer Operator, you’ll set up and operate the automatic packing machine, check bag weights and labels, and make sure packed seed is stacked and ready for storage or dispatch. You’ll also keep accurate records, monitor the machine, and help maintain a clean and safe work area.

This role would suit someone practical and reliable, with good attention to detail and an interest in machinery. You’ll work as part of the wider processing team and assist with other seed processing duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor the automatic seed packing machine.
• Pack seed into the correct bags and check that weights meet requirements.
• Check bag sealing and labels to make sure finished products meet requirements.
• Stack and palletise packed bags for storage or dispatch.
• Complete packing records and other paperwork accurately.
• Check that the packer is running correctly and report any issues to your manager.
• Make sure bags, labels, and other packing materials are available as needed.
• Carry out routine cleaning and basic maintenance of the machine and surrounding work area.
• Keep your work area clean, tidy, and safe.
• Work with the team to complete packing jobs accurately and efficiently.
• Follow health and safety and company procedures.
• Assist with other seed processing and general duties as required. What We’re Looking For To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A commitment to health and safety A current forklift licence and experience are preferred. Training will be provided for the right applicant if needed. Experience in seed, grain, manufacturing, warehousing, or similar work would also be an advantage.
