Dewatering Mechanical Fitter

Our Opportunity 6 month position Location: Solomon

• Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples. Roster: 14D14R FIFO ex Perth and Busselton Keep critical water assets running Join Fortescue’s Water Maintenance team at Solomon in this 6 month position and help keep essential dewatering equipment operating safely and reliably. Reporting to the Solomon Water Services Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll maintain and repair equipment across site, including diesel pumps, generators, submersible and centrifugal pumps, and valves.

Key Responsibilities

Service and maintain diesel pumps and portable generators. Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs to minimise downtime. Inspect and maintain centrifugal pumps and fire pumps. Maintain isolation and control valves. Work independently and alongside the team to support reliable water operations. Perform workshop-based maintenance, repairs and rebuilds of dewatering pump wet-ends.

Qualifications

and Experience A diesel trade background, such as Light or Heavy Vehicle Mechanical, with experience relevant to diesel-powered equipment. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills. Diesel pump repairs experience desirable. A self-motivated approach and the ability to work well independently and in a team. Good organisational, communication and written skills along with a strong commitment to safety.

Experience using computer-based systems such as BMS and SAP is advantageous. A HR driver’s licence is required. Forklift, CN, rigging or dogging tickets are desirable.
