What You’ll Do As Infection Control RN, you will provide care to our Veteran residents under the medical direction of the attending physician, Director of Nursing, or Medical Director, with an emphasis on infection control.

You will help tailor treatment plans to meet each resident’s physical and psychosocial needs in accordance with established medical practices, state requirements, and facility policies.

Key responsibilities include

Assess residents and review records to distinguish normal from abnormal findings, and initiate physician referrals or consultations when appropriate. Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Care Plan Team to develop comprehensive assessments and individualized skin care and treatment plans Implement and maintain infection control policies and procedures, and communicate them to physicians, residents, and families Provide direct nursing care in emergencies and in the presence of illness or disability, supporting residents’ comfort and coping Assist with resident admissions, discharges, rehabilitation activities, and transitions of care in coordination with families and outside agencies Educate residents and families on infection prevention Maintain positive working relationships with physicians, consultants, health professionals, and families Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications Nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduate of an approved RN program Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an RN Current, unencumbered, active RN license in the state of practice Strong working knowledge of nursing and medical practices, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines governing long-term care Leadership and supervisory ability, with a collaborative approach to working with staff Ability to make sound, independent decisions Ability to interact tactfully and professionally with staff, residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and the general public Patience, compassion, and a positive attitude when caring for residents with complex needs Proactive in identifying and incorporating new methods and best practices into nursing care Ability to communicate clearly regarding resident condition and needs Ability to manage the mental and emotional demands of the role with composure and professionalism Infection control certification (e.
