Civil Construction Estimator

Central Southern Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Civil Construction Estimator** to support our growing heavy civil and sitework operations. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including earthwork, utilities, grading, asphalt, concrete, and related scopes.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil and sitework projects (public and private)

Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop complete bid packages

Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, pipe, structures, paving, concrete, and materials

Request and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes

Develop pricing for labor, equipment, trucking, materials, and subcontracted scopes

Identify project risks, scope gaps, and constructability concerns

Collaborate with project management and field operations to ensure accurate production rates and bid strategies

Maintain estimate files, bid logs, and supporting documentation

Support post-bid handoff and project start-up when awarded

Qualifications

2+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil, sitework, underground utilities, paving, or DOT work (preferred)

Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and contracts

Strong math skills and understanding of materials, labor, and equipment costs

Proficiency in Excel and estimating tools (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Planswift, Agtek, Trimble, or similar)

Strong communication and organization skills

Ability to manage multiple bids and tight deadlines

Preferred Experience

DOT / municipal civil estimating

Earthwork takeoffs and production rate development

Utility, storm, sanitary, and waterline estimating

Asphalt, concrete, and structural scopes
