Trading Desk Accountant

Job Title: Trading Desk Accountant Contract Type: Time Type: Full time Job Description: Job Summary: Experienced accountant to perform trading desk accounting processes, monthly close, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset, strong analytical skills, and proven accounting ability.

Role will report directly to the Accounting Manager in Houston, Texas. Profile Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred Strong working knowledge of financial accounting Understanding of commodity trading business, especially physical power and natural gas trading Self-motivated, results oriented, and strong problem-solving skills Strong technical skills with proficiency in Excel Ability to independently research and analyze; discuss conclusions with senior management Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Team oriented with willingness to train colleagues Duties and Responsibilities: Perform monthly economic to accounting Profit & Loss statement reconciliations Account for commodity trading transactions (purchases, sales, costs).

Validate AR/AP balances for assigned Trade desks/commodities Ensure accuracy and consistency with Trading system data Liase with Front/Middle Office and Operations to ensure accuracy, and consistency of reported figures Review balance sheet, cash movements, and working capital for assigned desks Quarterly / Year-end Participate in Quarter End reporting activities Compile pertinent data for management reporting and financial statements Participate in Year End audit and financial statement preparation, as needed If you think the open position you see is right for you, we encourage you to apply!
