Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

If you love the variety of mixed animal medicine, appreciate a team that has your back, and believe a good sense of humour belongs in the workplace, we think we might get along pretty well. Our team at Peace River Veterinary Services is looking for a full-time, permanent Mixed Animal Veterinarian to join us! We're a progressive mixed animal practice with a diverse caseload, modern diagnostic equipment, plenty of opportunities to learn, and a team of people who genuinely enjoy working together.

We love what we do, we're proud of the relationships we've built with our clients, and we believe that great veterinary medicine starts with great people. We may be biased, but we think we've got something pretty special here in Peace River. Our team is hardworking, supportive, down-to-earth, and passionate about providing exceptional care to the animals and people in our community.

We take pride in the medicine we practice, the relationships we build, and the way we show up for one another. We also believe there's room for laughter in even the most serious professions. After all, when you work with animals, a sense of humour comes in handy! One of the things we love most about our practice is the variety.

From companion animal medicine to bovine and equine work, there's always an opportunity to put your skills to use, learn something new, or explore an area of veterinary medicine you're passionate about. And the best part? You'll never have to figure it all out on your own with our new Mentorship Program. As part of Mosaic Veterinary Partners, we're connected to an incredible network of veterinarians, including highly respected professionals in bovine and equine medicine who are genuinely passionate about mentorship and sharing their knowledge.

Whether you're a newer graduate finding your footing or an experienced veterinarian looking for an opportunity to grow, we're excited about what we can learn from each other. Our Little Corner of Alberta If you haven't spent much time in Peace River, we think you're in for a pleasant surprise. Our community is nestled in a beautiful river valley in northwestern Alberta, surrounded by stunning scenery and endless opportunities to get outside.

With hiking, fishing, camping, skiing, and plenty of recreation opportunities, there's no shortage of things to enjoy when you're not at the clinic. And with a population of approximately 7,000, Peace River has that wonderful small-town feeling where people know their neighbours, support local businesses, and genuinely care about their community.

There's also something pretty rewarding about being a veterinarian in a place where you get to know your clients, their families, and sometimes several generations of their animals. And yes, there's a good chance you'll run into a client at the grocery store. We consider that part of the charm! We're not looking for someone who knows everything.

We're looking for someone who's excited to keep learning, enjoys being part of a team, and genuinely loves mixed animal medicine. You'll fit right in with our team if: You love the variety of mixed animal medicine and enjoy working with different species. You value relationships and take pride in earning the trust of your clients.

You're curious, thoughtful, and enjoy working through challenges with your colleagues. You're a team player who is happy to lend a hand, share your knowledge, and ask for help when you need it. You bring a positive attitude, kindness, and a good sense of humour to the workplace. You're excited about continuing to develop your skills and exploring your professional interests.

You have an interest in equine medicine (an added bonus!) You'll also need a degree in veterinary medicine, the appropriate certification and eligibility for licensing in Alberta, and the ability to participate in a shared after-hours and weekend schedule. We believe that being a great veterinarian shouldn't mean putting your own growth and well-being on the back burner.

As part of Mosaic Veterinary Partners, our team has access to some pretty wonderful opportunities and benefits, including: Meaningful mentorship: Our unique Mentorship Program provides access to experienced veterinarians and an exceptional network of partners with expertise across multiple species. Really cool medicine: A diverse caseload, modern diagnostic equipment, and opportunities to develop your skills and interests.

People who have your back: A collaborative team that celebrates successes, shares knowledge, and supports one another. Competitive compensation and benefits: Comprehensive group benefits, vacation, personal time, and wellness support. Professional development: Continuing education allowances, learning opportunities, and support for licensing and membership dues.

Relocation support: Signing bonuses and relocation assistance may be available to help make your move a little easier. We're also proud to be part of a Canadian, privately owned, veterinarian-led group that values the individuality of each practice and the communities we serve. Come Get to Know Us! We could tell you more about our clinic, our team, and why we love calling Peace River home, but we think some things are better experienced in person.

Whether you're actively looking for a new opportunity or just a little curious about what life in Peace River could look like, we'd love to meet you. Come visit, have a coffee, meet the team, and see what we're all about. We can't wait to meet you! The Peace River Veterinary Services Team
