LITTLETON REGIONAL HEALTHCARE POSITION SUMMARY JOB TITLE: House Supervisor FLSA: 0 Exempt 0 Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Nursing Administration GRADE: 9.5/10.5 Position Summary The House Supervisor provides on-shift operational oversight for hospital-wide nursing services. This role supports safe, effective care across all inpatient and outpatient nursing areas by coordinating staffing, managing patient flow, responding to emergent situations, and serving as the point of contact for administrative and clinical issues during assigned shifts.
The role does not include exemption-level duties; responsibilities are task-based and shift-focused rather than managerial. This role is compensated as a differential in addition to base rate based on background training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Housewide Operational Oversight
- Provides real-time coordination of hospital-wide staffing, including reallocating staff based on acuity and census needs.
- Supports charge nurses, assists with unit concerns, and provides clinical presence throughout the hospital.
- Manages housewide patient flow, including admissions, transfers, and bed placement.
- Responds to escalations such as safety events, behavioral emergencies, and clinical concerns.
- Collaborates with providers, department leads, and ancillary services to maintain smooth operations. Clinical Support
- Performs direct patient care interventions appropriate to scope and competency.
- Provides support during emergency responses (e.g., codes, rapid responses).
- Assists with problem-solving, conflict resolution, and coordination between departments. Administrative and Communication Responsibilities
- Serves as the on-shift liaison to leadership for operational updates and concerns.
- Documents shift activities and handoff information for nursing leadership review.
- Reinforces organizational policies, patient safety expectations, and regulatory standards. Professional Conduct
- Upholds LRH values and models professionalism in all interactions.
- Ensures confidentiality of patient, staff, and organizational information.
- Maintains a supportive and respectful presence across all departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice. Certifications
- Current RN license in the state of New Hampshire (or compact license). ACLS – Required PALS – Required NRP--Required TNCC—Required (within six months of hire) Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related degree preferred Experience
- Minimum of three years acute clinical experience (critical care preferred) Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Fast-paced, high-acuity environment with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and surgical instrumentation.
- Requires standing for extended periods, lifting to 50 pounds, and full-body mobility.
