RPAS Pilot Austin, TX | Full-Time | Onsite with Field Travel The Opportunity Infravision is seeking an experienced RPAS Pilot to conduct precision manual drone flight operations and support field execution, equipment readiness, safety, and customer projects across the United States. This is not a traditional drone photography, real estate inspection, or automated mapping position.

Our pilots perform hands-on manual flight operations in demanding utility construction environments while supporting equipment setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, site safety, and operational documentation. Flying is an important part of the role, but successful field execution requires much more than time behind the controls.

What You’ll Do Manual Flight Operations: Operate RPAS/UAS platforms for customer projects, field operations, testing, demonstrations, and deployments, performing precision manual flights requiring sound judgment, situational awareness, and aviation discipline.

Flight Planning & Execution: Support pre-flight planning, risk assessments, airspace and weather evaluations, aircraft inspections, and safe flight execution in accordance with FAA requirements and company procedures. Equipment Preparation & Deployment: Prepare, transport, set up, inspect, and break down drones, ground equipment, and related systems, ensuring equipment readiness before, during, and after field operations.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Assist with drone maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, basic repairs, and technical problem-solving to maintain operational readiness and minimize downtime. Field Safety & Compliance: Lead or support daily toolbox talks, job hazard assessments, and site safety protocols. Verify PPE, first aid kits, and required safety resources are available and support compliance documentation during energized and de-energized operations.

Field Operations Support: Work alongside field crews and technical teams in active construction environments, supporting site preparation, equipment handling, operational execution, and changing project requirements. Customer & Team Collaboration: Communicate professionally with utility customers, contractors, aviation teams, field crews, safety personnel, and internal stakeholders to coordinate safe and successful project execution.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate flight records, aircraft inspections, equipment documentation, site activity reports, and required safety and operational records. Travel & Operational Flexibility: Travel to project locations throughout the United States, work in remote and challenging environments, and support additional field, safety, documentation, and operational responsibilities as required.

What We’re Looking For FAA Certification: Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required. Manual Flight Experience: Minimum 500 flight hours conducting non-preprogrammed, manually controlled drone flights. Demonstrated proficiency beyond automated or waypoint-based flight operations required. Aviation Knowledge: Strong understanding of FAA aviation principles, airspace requirements, weather evaluation, risk management, pre-flight planning, aeronautical decision-making, and safe flight practices.

Additional Aviation Experience: FAA Part 61 pilot knowledge, military aviation, flight instruction, commercial aviation, or equivalent aviation operations experience preferred. Field & Technical Experience: Experience in aviation, utility construction, infrastructure, public safety, military, inspection, survey, testing, or related field environments, with demonstrated ability to set up, troubleshoot, maintain, and support technical equipment.

Safety & Professionalism: Strong commitment to field safety, toolbox talks, PPE readiness, first aid preparedness, and compliance documentation, with sound judgment and professional communication skills in customer-facing environments. Physical & Field Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in non-climate-controlled environments, including remote sites with limited infrastructure; walk and stand for extended periods; lift, carry, set up, and break down equipment; and navigate uneven, rocky, muddy, or sloped terrain, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Relocation & Travel: Ability and willingness to relocate to Austin, Texas, and travel extensively to support field operations, customer projects, testing, demonstrations, and deployments. Adaptability & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, respond to changing project priorities, and support a broad range of responsibilities in a growing technology business.
