Special Education Teacher

Description: Full-time Special Education Teacher for Highland High School SDEP (Social Development and Education Program) Job Summary: Applicants must be willing to: Learn and implement a comprehensive system (including a Point system and a therapeutic component) for student's behavior and functioning. Be trained in the structure of the SDEP program and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) by the district's Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Upload student data on a regular basis to the BCBA. Consult with Director of Special Services, Principal, and BCBA on a regular basis to maintain programming integrity and functionality. Individualize lessons and deliver instruction to students with a variety of academic and behavioral needs. Demonstrate strong classroom management, including the use of trauma-informed practices.

Demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills. Demonstrate high expectation for behavior and learning. Receive training and be prepared to use CPI restraint when necessary. Learn and use on-line IEP software and write IEPs according to district guidelines. Manage and work collaboratively with paraprofessionals (program assistants).

Cooperate with teachers to support a collaborative school culture. Extra curricular/coaching opportunities may be available.

Qualifications

Must meet requirements for reimbursement as an LBS I Endorsed Teacher. Salary: Based on HEA contract.
