Staff Accountant

MPS Group, Inc., is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in our corporate office in Farmington Hills, MI. This individual will support the organization’s accounting practices and financial reporting by performing the following duties personally or with others.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain account reconciliations monthly Perform basic troubleshooting to reconcile account balances and inquire to obtain missing information or verify unusual data. Posting Journal Entries as needed Assist with various audits throughout the year Assist with Fixed Asset Maintenance including but not limited to adding assets, maintaining correct back up, Sub Ledger to General Ledger reconciliations Reconciling and understanding all Payroll liabilities confirming paid timely and allocated correctly Assist with preparing the monthly Sales and Use Tax returns Assist with preparing Annual Property Tax Returns Prepare budget forecasting for fixed assets depreciation and various expenses Perform duties, which may be assigned by the leadership team and/or general management.

Adhere to the Quality Systems and participate in continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Minimum of 3 years of related accounting experience required. Experience in accounting principles is essential. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to work in fast-paced environment with deadlines. Ability to maintain process and procedures documentation. Advanced (or strong) Excel skills.
