Your Role
As AI & Data Engineer in Lisbon, you are the senior engineering anchor for agentic AI systems plus the Data Engineering capability (warehouse, dbt, modeling, ETL/ELT) that today is missing from the AI Team. You ship multi-agent systems end-to-end (orchestration, RAG pipelines, evals, deployment, observability) and you own the data plumbing they depend on, for client engagements ranging from internal automation to customer-facing AI products built on top of HubSpot data.
We are hiring this role because the AI consulting practice is supply-constrained: more qualified AI requests in the pipeline than engineers capable of taking them from prototype to production. At the same time, the data foundation our AI engagements depend on is fragmented and underutilised. The Lisbon hub gives the practice a non-DACH talent market and a second timezone presence.
The role also functions as the Lisbon-side anchor for the Tbilisi AI & Data Engineer (Phase 2, Q4 2026), pairing daily and acting as senior reviewer.
Your Responsibilities
Production AI Delivery. Ship 3+ production-grade agentic AI systems to enterprise clients, deployed, signed-off, in active use within 12 months. Reusable Agent Framework. Build and maintain Thorit's reusable agent framework: tool-calling layer, prompt management, evals harness, observability, usable by future AI Engineers across all sites.
Data Warehouse Foundation. Build and operate Thorit's internal HubSpot data warehouse layer (dbt models, source freshness checks, tested transformations) for AI engagements and internal analytics. Quality Bar. Establish Thorit's evals and data quality bar: every shipped agent has documented evals, drift monitoring, rollback plan; every shipped pipeline has tests and freshness SLAs.
Client CSAT. Deliver projects at average client CSAT >= 8.5/10. Pre-sales Authority. Contribute to AI proposal and scoping conversations as the technical authority alongside Sales and Advisory. Tbilisi Pairing. Onboard and pair daily with the Tbilisi AI & Data Engineer once that hire ramps in Q4 2026. Thought Leadership.
Co-author 2+ public-facing technical assets (blog post, webinar, conference talk) on Thorit's AI engineering or data engineering approach.

Your Profile
Production experience shipping agent systems with tool-calling LLMs (Claude, GPT, Gemini). Comfortable with tool schemas, multi-step reasoning, error handling, retries, observability. Hands-on data engineering with dbt (or comparable), production data pipelines, and operating a warehouse (BigQuery, Snowflake, Postgres, DuckDB) under change control.
You have modeled CRM or B2B data into a clean dimensional layer. RAG and knowledge systems in production: vector stores (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector), hybrid search, re-ranking, chunking strategies that work for enterprise documents. Eval and data quality discipline: you do not ship without automated eval suites (golden datasets, LLM-as-judge, regression tests) and dbt-style data tests.
Production engineering hygiene: maintainable Python or TypeScript, tests, types, CI, deployment. Comfortable in cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure), Docker, basic IaC. Native-level Portuguese plus business-fluent English. English is the daily working language with the DACH and Tbilisi teams. Lisbon-based with availability for 2 to 3 days per week at the Lisbon office.
What Makes You Excel You read token cost and warehouse cost like an SRE reads CPU. You know when to cache, when to fine-tune, when to switch models or pre-aggregate data. You can run a working session with a non-technical client product owner, translate intent into a working system, and demo progress weekly. Not a heads-down-only engineer.
You have integrated AI or agent systems with CRMs, ticketing tools, or data warehouses. HubSpot experience is a plus, not a requirement. You enjoy mentoring through pair programming and reviews, and look forward to onboarding the Tbilisi counterpart in Q4 2026. You ship and learn from production, you do not stop at the prototype stage.
