Aviation Civil Engineer Co-op/Intern

Passero Associates' Charlotte, NC Office has an exciting paid Aviation Civil Engineer Co-op/Intern opportunity to work alongside our aviation team on a variety of airport planning, design, and infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on experience supporting projects at commercial, general aviation, and military airports while utilizing the latest industry technologies, including drones, 3D visualization, and virtual reality.

Gain valuable experience toward a professional career in civil engineering through collaboration with engineers, planners, surveyors, architects, and aviation professionals on projects that enhance airport safety, operations, and capacity.

Responsibilities

Assist with the planning and design of airport infrastructure projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, and landside facilities Support the preparation of engineering reports, calculations, specifications, and construction documents Perform field investigations, site inspections, and data collection at airport facilities Assist with FAA grant-funded projects and airport improvement programs Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to develop plans and exhibits Coordinate with project teams and support project deliverables throughout design and construction phases Qualifications / Experience Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field Interest in aviation engineering, airport design, and transportation infrastructure Immediate availability and/or availability through 2027 Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred Previous civil engineering co-op, internship, or aviation-related experience is a plus Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Strong communication and organizational skills Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to visit active airport and construction project sites as needed About Passero: founded in 1972, Passero Associates has a staff of more than 180 professionals in nine offices providing high-quality, value-oriented architecture, aviation, civil and structural engineering, planning, transportation, and survey services throughout the northeastern, southeastern, and midwestern United States.
