Assistant Track and Field Coach

Reports To: Head Coach and Director of Athletic/Activities Education and Experience: Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate OR MSHSAA Coaching Authorization / Certificate High school or collegiate track and field competing or coaching experience preferred Essential Job Functions : Supervise, coach, and instruct student athletes, individually and in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, training, techniques, and strategies of the sport.

Observes players during games, practices, and film study to: determine the needs for individual or team improvement. Assesses player skills and give input in assigning team positions, techniques, and strategies. Follows a practice schedule, plans and coordinates drills, and utilizes practice time to provide both individual, group, and team development.

Maintains standards of student behavior and provides proper supervision of athletes at all times. Encourage student athletes to maintain a high academic and citizenship standard. Model, teach, and expect character development Record daily attendance of a specific group of athletes. Assist in summer activities and be willing to work nights and weekends.

Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for students during all team activities, including practices, games, weight room, locker rooms, buses, etc. Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury and administer first aid when necessary. Respond to risk management/emergency situations and notify emergency responders when appropriate.

Maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and coaches. Follow MSHSAA and District regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach. Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators. Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.

Immediately investigate complaints, respond to rule infractions, report serious violations of school rules or suspicious or unauthorized activities to school administrators. The District reserves the right to close this posting once a suitable applicant has been identified.
