Position Overview
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business advocacy organization, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to lead the Chamber’s advocacy on critical national and global supply chain, transportation, and infrastructure issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging Congress, federal agencies, the media, and industry leaders to identify and advocate for pro-growth solutions to complex challenges facing the American business community.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and execution of the Chamber’s policy agenda concerning transportation, infrastructure investment, and supply chain resilience. Advocacy and Engagement: Serve as the Chamber’s primary advocate on supply chain, transportation, and infrastructure issues, engaging effectively with Congress, the administration, and relevant federal agencies (e.
g., the departments of Transportation and Homeland Security). Media and Public Relations: Act as a principal spokesperson for the Chamber on transportation and supply chain matters, interacting with national media, participating on panels, and delivering public remarks. Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with industry leaders, Chamber members, and coalition partners to foster consensus and drive policy solutions.
Policy Analysis: Monitor, analyze, and report on emerging legislative and regulatory trends impacting transportation networks, hazardous materials safety, and supply chain logistics.
Qualifications
15–20+ years of distinguished experience in policymaking, government affairs, and advocacy, particularly within the transportation and supply chain sectors. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., J.D., master’s in public policy) preferred. Proven track record of leadership in senior public policy roles at major corporations, relevant federal agencies, Capitol Hill, or trade associations.
In-depth expertise navigating complex legislative and regulatory environments, such as previous committee staff experience (e.g., Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Senate Environment and Public Works, or House Transportation and Infrastructure). Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex policy issues into actionable advocacy strategies.
The salary range for this position is $238,231.00 to $300,000.00, with the possibility of additional compensation through a discretionary bonus. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
