School Psychologist SC Openings!

Irmo, South Carolina, United StatesFull-timePosted Oct 6, 2026

Job description

Day in the Life: New School Psychologist in South Carolina The morning sun is just hitting the palm trees as you pull into the school parking lot. You grab your favorite travel mug, take a breath, and get ready for a day dedicated to three core ideas: assess thoughtfully, advocate effectively, and help students thrive.

As a full-time School Psychologist for the 2026–2027 school year, your days are dynamic, deeply collaborative, and entirely focused on student success. Here is what your day-to-day looks like:

  • Morning Prep & Planning: You kick off the morning by reviewing your schedule and organizing assessment materials. Today, you are diving into a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation for a student who has been struggling with reading fluency.
  • Thoughtful Assessment: You spend a couple of hours working one-on-one with a student. Rather than just checking off boxes on a test, you look at the whole picture—evaluating their unique needs, strengths, and behavioral patterns in a welcoming environment.
  • Collaborative Lunch & Consultation: Over lunch, you sync up with a third-grade teacher. They asked for your advice on a new behavioral intervention strategy for a student in their class, and you brainstorm practical ways to keep the student engaged.
  • The IEP Table: In the afternoon, you head into an IEP meeting. You take complex assessment data and translate it into clear, practical recommendations for the student's parents and the multidisciplinary team. You help guide eligibility decisions, build strong educational plans, and establish meaningful progress monitoring.
  • Social-Emotional Support: Before the final bell rings, you touch base with a student who needs a quick check-in, providing a safe space and vital social-emotional support.
  • Wrapping Up: You wrap up the afternoon by documenting your findings, ensuring everything is confidentially stored, and feeling a deep sense of accomplishment knowing you are a true catalyst for a positive school environment.

Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology or a related field. Core Skills: Assessment, consultation, communication, and strong organization.
