Varsity Assistant Softball Coach

• Argyle, TX, Position Type: Seasonal, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Travel Percentage: Up to 25%, Job Category: Coach, Position Purpose The Upper School Assistant Coach will support the Varsity Head Coach for all aspects of the assigned sport in Upper School.

Essential Functions

Instructs athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. Provides instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self‐discipline, leadership, and self‐confidence.

Increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program as well as the school community. Supervise all practices, games, team trips, locker rooms, and athletic facilities. Updates knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine latest ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general.

Coordinates with the Varsity Head Coach in uniform and equipment maintenance as well as inventory. Adheres to policies within the athletic department and school to address issues or concerns. Updates the Varsity Head Coach frequently during the season about any issues, concerns, and/or highlights. Develop a weekly communication plan for parents and faculty.

Adheres to the Student Protection Policy (SPP) procedures and training.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Demonstrated leadership and facilitative skills. Preferred coaching experience in assigned sport. CPR certified. Serve as a Christian role model. Physical and Mental Requirements and Work Environment Works in an environment with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.

Use close and distance vision. May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time. May stand for extended periods of time. May work in an environment with loud sounds. Works both indoors & outdoors in heat and cold weather conditions. Ability to lift to 50 lbs. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written).

Ability to instruct and model desirable skills and attitude. Ability to remain productive and maintain control under stress. Ability to maintain a clear focus on a positive student athlete experience. Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and during school holiday closures. Part-time temporary position for sport season with some pre-season requirements.
