Chief Operating Officer

Job. Matching. Partner is assisting an MFSA-licensed bank based in Malta to find a C hief Operating Officer to join their team. As a COO, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight across all core operational functions, ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery. The role is office-based , with a salary of up to €110K + an benefits package .

Role & Responsibilities Lead the bank’s overall operational function, ensuring effective and consistent delivery across all areas Ensure full compliance with MFSA requirements and applicable EU banking regulations across operations Support the bank’s digitalisation agenda by introducing and embedding modern technologies, automation, and digital solutions Develop and maintain operational plans that support the organisation’s strategic objectives Promote a culture of continuous improvement, regularly reviewing and enhancing processes and workflows Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team on the execution of business priorities Oversee operational risk management, ensuring appropriate controls and business continuity measures are in place Encourage effective collaboration between teams to support smooth day-to-day operations Monitor operational performance through KPIs, reporting, and analysis to support decision-making Lead and support organisational change initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new systems and processes Education, Skills & Experience Proven senior leadership experience within banking or financial services operations in Malta Strong understanding of MFSA requirements and EU regulatory frameworks Excellent communication skills in English both written and verbal Experience in digital transformation or operational improvement initiatives Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Analytical mindset with the ability to improve operational performance Experience managing complex, regulated environments Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work across teams About this role Salary around €110K Office Based in Sliema Attractive benefits package offered Note: This role requires prior operational experience in Malta within a regulated banking or financial services environment.
