- Rotational (Fixed Term Contract) into a Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. Fixed Term Contract
- Ending April 18th Responsibilities Manage the purchasing, receipt, storage, stock control and supply of medicines and pharmacy-related products, ensuring quality, safety, appropriate stock levels and value for money. Provide comprehensive dispensary services, including prescription and requisition dispensing, extemporaneous preparation, pre-packing, ward top-ups, returns, charging and pharmaceutical waste processing. Operate and maintain the Pyxis automated dispensing system, including loading, refilling, stock rotation, expiry checks, maintenance and supporting clinical staff in its appropriate use. Receive and process pharmacy deliveries in accordance with departmental procedures, including appropriate handling of cold-chain medicines, cytotoxic products and other specialist medications. Provide technical support to Aseptic Services when trained and deemed competent, including the preparation of parenteral chemotherapy and clinical trial products in accordance with approved procedures and quality standards. Complete required checks, validations, worksheets, labels, equipment records and documentation associated with aseptic preparation, and assist with maintaining appropriate stock levels and workload records. Participate in quality assurance, clinical audits, medication safety initiatives, JCI accreditation activities and the reporting and follow-up of medication incidents in accordance with hospital policies. Maintain accurate records of medication usage, stock movements, charging, returns, audits and other pharmacy activities, ensuring compliance with departmental and hospital-wide procedures. Participate in education, training and continuing professional development, including supporting the training of pharmacy students, technicians, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in pharmacy-related practices. Adhere to all pharmacy, health and safety, confidentiality and infection prevention requirements, while demonstrating flexibility to participate in on-call duties, weekend or extended opening rosters and other service requirements.
Requirements
Hold a recognised Pharmaceutical Technician Diploma with relevant technical knowledge and experience in pharmacy practice. Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacy automation and new technologies, with compounding experience considered desirable. Work as a punctual, dedicated and professional team member while maintaining open communication and positive working relationships.
Demonstrate strong commitment to quality, accuracy, patient-centred service, health and safety, and continuous service improvement. Be self-motivated, honest, trustworthy, computer literate and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrate good interpersonal and training skills, with the ability to support, motivate and develop colleagues where required.
