Locate Technician Location: Allegan County, MI Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Locate Technician to join our team in Allegan County, MI. The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction activities.

This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to locate requests and accurately identify underground utilities including gas, water, electric, telecommunications, and sewer lines. Use specialized equipment and maps to mark utility locations in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and property owners to provide clear and accurate information.

Maintain detailed records of locate activities and report any discrepancies or issues. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent damage to underground utilities and ensure personal safety. Work outdoors in various weather conditions and navigate different types of terrain. Assist with training new technicians as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred. Knowledge of underground utility systems and local/state regulations. Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to perform outdoor work, including walking, bending, and lifting. Work Environment This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and requires travel within Allegan County. The role may involve exposure to traffic, construction sites, and other hazards, requiring strict adherence to safety guidelines.
