Job description
CREC is expanding its team of CNAs in our STRIVE Program in Clinton. The STRIVE Program partners with local school districts, families, young adults, state agencies, and community resources to provide comprehensive transition planning and services. STRIVE prepares young adults for post-secondary life by assisting them in realizing their potential, addressing their needs, and meeting goals related to daily living, career planning, and opportunities for adult learning.
We are currently seeking a full time CNA to provide appropriate care for ill one to one, medically fragile, and/or injured students; provide health information and serve as a resource to parents, teachers, staff, and administrators; and identifying health problems for referral for proper treatment while working within their scope of practice and under the direction of a registered nurse within the building or the Assistant Director of Health Service in a nurse's absence facilitate and strengthen the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of children and by identifying and assisting in the removal or modification of health-related barriers to the learning process for each child.

Serving 33 member districts and reaching additional communities statewide, CREC supports approximately 12,000 students annually through more than 120 educational programs. Our offerings include professional learning and coaching for educators, specialized programming for students with diverse needs, and PreK-12 education across 16 interdistrict magnet schools.
Additionally, CREC provides school construction, operations, and cooperative business services, while also delivering programs that help adults build real, job-ready skills.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the Managing Director of Health Services and under the immediate supervision of the school nurse (remove - administration or designee this person is certified healthcare worker), the CNA will provide basic first aid for injuries, record symptoms of sick students, obtain vital signs, (remove - administering doctor-approved medication to students,), provide emergency care when necessary, and help maintain records of each student who visits the nurse's office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties/Responsibilities Provide for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding students as necessary, and ambulating, turning, and positioning students as needed if wheelchair bound; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals. Provide adjunct care as directed by a LPN or RN. Monitors student stability by checking vital and recording intake and output information.
Provide student comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; and reporting observations of the student to nursing, or other school support staff. Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records. Maintain work operations by following CREC policies and procedures. Protect the organization's value by keeping student information confidential.
Serve and protect the CREC community by adhering to professional standards, school policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements. Maintain students' confidentiality and privacy per CREC policy. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining certification.
Enhance Health Services and CREC's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. QUALIFICATIONS
Certification with an accredited training course through the State of Connecticut preferred and current CPR certification through the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support. 1 year of nursing assistant experience is preferred. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Travel as needed to attend meetings and assignments at schools/programs and other locations.
