POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a motivated HSE Coordinator to join our Health, Safety and Environment team, providing practical, on-site HSE support across Hickory's operations. Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will work closely with operational managers, supervisors and employees to promote safe work practices, identify and manage workplace risks, and support compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
This is a varied, field-based role offering exposure to multiple areas of the business, including manufacturing, construction, logistics and precast operations. You'll play an important role in supporting HSE initiatives, strengthening safety practices and ensuring corrective actions are followed through to completion.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide practical HSE support across Hickory's operations, including manufacturing, construction, logistics and precast facilities. Conduct regular site inspections and workplace observations to identify hazards, assess risks and verify appropriate safety controls are in place. Support operational teams in preparing and reviewing risk assessments, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and safe work procedures.
Coordinate site inductions, toolbox talks and refresher training, ensuring accurate attendance and training records. Assist with routine incident investigations, maintaining accurate documentation and escalating serious incidents or significant risks to the HSE Manager. Monitor and follow up corrective actions, working with operational teams to ensure identified safety issues are addressed and effectively closed out.
Maintain accurate HSE records and reporting through Hammer. Tech and other relevant systems. Support the implementation of environmental controls, emergency procedures and workplace safety initiatives. Build positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees and contractors to promote a proactive safety culture.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE Previous experience in an HSE role within manufacturing, construction, logistics or a similar operational environment Certificate IV in WHS/OHS or higher with a willingness to develop practical industry experience. Sound understanding of Victorian occupational health and safety requirements and workplace risk management principles.
Ability to identify workplace hazards, support risk assessments and monitor the effectiveness of safety controls. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with employees, supervisors, managers and contractors. Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations.
A proactive, practical approach to safety, with the ability to work independently while recognising when matters require escalation. Construction Induction White Card and current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain these before undertaking relevant duties. Experience using HSE management systems such as Hammer.
